The crown Sydney casino license has been revoked by the NSW gaming regulator. This was after a scandal emerged involving the billionaire owner, James Pecker.
The casino had been providing real-money gaming for a lot of people around the world. Also, it had one of the biggest and most luxurious infrastructures to be ever built in Australia when it comes to casino gaming.
Crown Sydney Casino
The Crown Sydney casino has been building its billion-dollar infrastructure for a while now, the world has been looking forward to seeing what is in store for them in this long-awaited project. The structure is supposed to give gamblers the biggest land casino in Australia.
And, even though the COVID outbreak and lockdowns had slowed all that up, the long-awaited event is nowhere. But, it might be facing some hiccups here and there.
The Scandal Surrounding the Casino
One of the founders of the casino had gotten into a business that had gone wrong when they signed a deal with their Chinese partners. Initially, the casino and their Chinese partners had been involved in a money-laundering scandal in Hong Kong. This had forced them to sever their ties. The NWS gambling authority had required that they do not get into any further deals just so that they stay on the clear.
While looking for partners, Pecker might have chosen the wrong partners. He went on to join forces with his Chinese partners and that did not go well with the licensing committee. Initially, the judge had cautioned them, but now, the license has been completely taken away from them. What is going to happen to the Sky Scrapper that is apparently worth $2.2 Billion?
The Way Forward
The chairwoman of the casino has admitted that there is a need for them to improve on their governing bodies. Since the scandal, a lot of people have been forced to resign from the casino. A lot of player in the high profile sector of the casino have been affected in a bid of the casino to prove themselves to the board. Helen Coonan went on to highlight that they are working hard in making sure they rectify the issue
Conclusion
There is hope that the issue may be readdressed if the casino decides to put its house in order. Therefore, we are going to be keeping up with them and seeing how we the issue pens out. Hopefully, NSW will be able to let this one go and give them back their operating license. A lot of money has been spent on building and developing this billion-dollar site.
